The 8088 Record Collective was established in 2001 by Abram Morphew and Joshua Abbott in Conway, Arkansas. The idea was to start a record label with minimal releases by d.i.y. means.
However, the idea of bringing musicians and artists together to form a community instead of a business enterprise became the focal point. 8088 Records became the 8088 Record Collective by 2006. The idea was to form connections and support from artists who shared the same ideals, enthusiasm, and convictions. With this support system in place, the hope was that new opportunities would present themselves to all the artists involved. The backbone of the Collective is the internet and specifically, www.8088collective.com.
The 8088 Record Collective released it’s first compilation in 2007 and has been releasing compilations every year since.
